Tires Importance in Military Operations
Keeping military vehicles mobile during conflict is a critical concern for military equipment manufacturers. Tires, which are particularly vulnerable to vehicle-targeted fire after running over a mine or an improvised explosive device, are one of the most serious risks to their mobility. A military wheel is built to endure severe loads and strains during the operating life of a military vehicle, which is known as the Run Flat System.
Army vehicles use pneumatic tires that are engineered to withstand deflation even after being punctured, allowing them to be driven at lower speeds and for a shorter distance. Pneumatic tires, often known as run-flat tires, can operate without air pressure for a long time, allowing the vehicle to maneuver toward a safe region. Run-flat tyres have reinforced sidewalls that resist blowout and don’t require air to maintain stiffness. Despite this good feature, sidewalls are not supposed to be permanent, thus extra driving is only recommended for about 80 kilometers after the tyre has been deflated.
